Terms & Conditions
These terms apply to bookings made with The BarnYard at Upchurch for our restaurant, events, private hire and weddings. By making a booking, you agree to them. The headline terms are below, your full wedding or event agreement is provided in your booking documentation.
High Tea Bookings
When booking our High Tea experience, you will be required to pay a £20 deposit per person, which is put towards your bill on the day of your visit. Cancellation terms are set out in the Cancellation section below.
Cancellation
We require your card details to guarantee your reservation. These are held securely in our PCI-compliant payment gateway. Should you need to cancel, please do so at the earliest opportunity and make a note of the cancellation reference number you are given. Reservations must be cancelled within the following timeframes, otherwise the charges shown will apply:
- High Tea: full charge based on our current menu price, per person, for cancellations made after 24 hours prior. For cancellations between 24 and 48 hours prior, the £20 deposit per person is retained.
- Breakfast & Lunch: £20 per person for cancellations made after 48 hours prior.
- Seasonal Events (such as Christmas Eve Breakfast, Mother's and Father's Day and Easter Sunday Lunch, excluding Christmas Party Nights): £25 per person, or the per-person cost of the set menu or ticket, for cancellations made after 7 days prior.
- Group Bookings (10 or more covers): see the Group Bookings section.

Group Bookings
Tables of 10 people or more require a £20 deposit per person, payable at the time of booking. Group bookings must also submit a pre-order and full payment no later than 2 weeks prior. Cancellations made after 2 weeks prior are non-refundable and non-transferable.
When hiring a private area, a non-refundable room-hire deposit is applied to your booking, based on the current brochure price at the time of booking.
We will do our best to ensure any pre-ordered food and drink is supplied as intended. Where this is not possible for reasons outside our reasonable control, we will provide a suitable like-for-like alternative or, at our discretion, a partial refund for the part or product missing or replaced.
Christmas Party Nights
All Christmas Party Night bookings require a non-refundable, non-transferable £20 deposit per person at the time of booking.
Remaining payments and pre-orders are requested by email and are due no later than 6 weeks prior to the event. Cancellations made after 6 weeks prior will be charged in full. Menu pre-orders not received 6 weeks prior will be chosen by The BarnYard on the client's behalf.
We will do our best to ensure pre-ordered food and drink is supplied as intended, with a like-for-like alternative or partial refund where that is not possible for reasons outside our reasonable control.
Take Aways
Our portions have always been generous, and we're happy for you to take any leftovers home to enjoy later. If anyone in your party wishes to take food away, we strongly recommend it is consumed within 2 hours of serving.
The BarnYard cannot accept responsibility for food removed from the premises, or for any illness that may occur from food consumed after the recommended 2-hour timeframe.
Using Vouchers
When redeeming a voucher, we require the physical voucher to be provided on the day of the experience. For e-vouchers, our team may be able to print this for you. If a valid voucher is not presented at the time of booking, we will ask you to settle the balance of the experience, plus any extra charges, before departing, and a refund will then be issued upon receipt of the valid voucher. Please refer to your voucher for its inclusions, expiry date and validity.
Dietary Requirements & Allergies
At the time of booking, please let us know of any dietary requirements or allergies for your party (amendments may be possible afterwards). If we are not informed in good time, this can cause delays. Our kitchen handles foods that may contain allergens from all 14 main allergen groups and, while our team will always strive to cater for dietary requirements, we cannot guarantee any food will be entirely free of allergens. If you need more information or have any concerns, please contact us at least 48 hours before arrival.
Service Charge
We pride ourselves on good old-fashioned service. With that in mind, for tables in our Restaurant or Private Event Spaces, a discretionary 12.5% service charge is automatically added to your bill.
Weddings: Payment Plan & Damage Deposit
Payment towards your wedding is taken in three stages:
- On reserving a date and accepting these Terms and Conditions, an initial reservation fee of £1,250.
- Eight months before your wedding date, a second reservation fee: for full-day weddings this is £2,750; for Twilight weddings it is the remainder of the venue hire.
- After your final wedding meeting (held 6 to 10 weeks before the day) we calculate the final remaining balance, due no later than 7 days before your wedding date.
With the final balance we also ask for a £500 damage deposit, which we hold until after your wedding and refund in full provided there is no damage. Your full, staged payment schedule is agreed and confirmed in your booking documentation.
Respect & Conduct
We are committed to ensuring our team treats every guest with respect, kindness and professionalism. In return, we ask that all guests treat our team with the same courtesy. We operate a strict zero-tolerance policy toward any form of abusive behaviour, whether physical, verbal or sexual. Anyone behaving in this way may be refused service and asked to leave.
Additional Information
While we will do our best to accommodate prams and buggies in the Restaurant, we cannot guarantee space around the table given the limited floor space. We may need to store your pram or buggy to one side and provide a chair or high chair so that access routes are kept clear.
